We have finally been let out of the house in the UK for more than just essential reasons. All be it outside we can now mingle with actual other people and eat food we haven’t cooked and have someone bring it to us! So now would be a great time to polish up your makeup skills maybe try some new products or some old products you haven’t used in a while.
As the weather is meant to be getting warmer and it feels like Spring I am loving a more glowy makeup look and letting my skin breathe especially as we will be wearing face masks for the foreseeable future.
Let the skin glow.
To create that glowy makeup look opt for cream formulas instead of powder matte finishes. Creams blend well into the skin and the formulas now are not sticky or tacky like in the past. Creams will look more natural and blend seamlessly into your skin without looking cakey and dry. If you can’t face skipping powder altogether apply a light dusting where you know you get oily or where your face mask sits. To add an even more radiant finish to any of your products mix in a drop of serum or moisturiser then apply as you normally would.
If however, you want to go for a new lightweight foundation I am loving the new Fenty Beauty Eaze Drop Blurring Skin Tint. It’s lightweight and hydrating with a blur effect but also humidity resistant so great to wear under masks but making the skin look flawless and natural, what more can you ask for? Oh, there are 25 shades to choose from as well!
Fenty Eaze Drop Blurring Foundation Skin Tint £25
Conceal as normal but maybe use less product or go for a creamy texture like the Nars radiant creamy concealer and avoid a heavy matte finish concealer
A soft rosy glow is perfect for this let out of lockdown look you don’t want to go overboard with the contour and highlight when we have all been used to wearing barely-there makeup or none for the best part of a year. Apply your blush to the apple of your cheeks and work upwards to add definition to your cheeks. I like to add a bit to the bridge of the nose and if it’s a cream blush dab any excess onto your lips.
The eyes have it.
Or maybe they don’t?! As much as we love a full-on Smokey eye with lashes and liner I think the spring glow look should be about a simple application that just adds definition to your eyes. Let your natural eye be the base for your shadow. Then go for a nude- for-you eyeshadow, bronzer or blush shade and apply over the whole lid with a fluffy brush working it into the crease and lower lash line to add more definition. This eye look is so simple so we can concentrate on getting outside!
As for lashes, I would still go for black mascara and really define your lashes with a separated brush rather than layer a thick mascara on. Curl your lashes first and work upwards to create a lifted lash look.
Brows bring everything together and the full feathered brow will create definition to the face without being overpowering like the heavy block brow of a few years ago. Fill in any sparse areas with a brow pencil and brush upwards with soap or a brow gel for that feathered affect.
For lips, I think just a hint of colour, either just hydrate with a lip balm or add some of the cream cheek colour onto the centre of the lips for the perfect natural pout that is easily reapplied. And there you have it ready a get the glow spring makeup look.
